Tortoise Feeding Day

Friends of Red Rock Canyon volunteers feed the tortoises in the enclosures behind the Visitor Center every Wednesday and Saturday starting around 8 a.m. When it’s cooler out they eat a little slower, and may not finish until 11 a.m., but in the heat of the summer it’s best to show up right at 8 to see them chow down!

Tortoise Soaking Day

Friends of Red Rock Canyon volunteers soak the tortoises in the enclosures behind the Visitor Center for about 20 minutes every Monday starting at 8 a.m. Soaking helps keep the tortoises hydrated and cleans their shells so they can be more easily identified by volunteers.
